Do you know "THE SECRET?"

Rhonda Byrne, author, very clearly states that "The Secret" has been around for over two thousand years and what she is offering is nothing new however the presentation and choice of "teachers" is refreshing and timely.

I don't think it is any coincidence that the DVD has a little bit of a "Da Vinci Code" feel to it and I think the timing of its release, on the heels of "Da Vinci Code," is perfect when viewed from a marketing viewpoint. The popularity of "Da Vinci Code" speaks to a hunger our society has for answers and "The Secret" is here to give many the answers they are looking for.

What is "the Secret?" People are paying big dollars to find out what is behind the book cover or within the DVD case. Basically Rhonda Byrne has taken bits and pieces of concepts that have been taught by various religious leaders and philosophers over thousands of years and placed them under one roof while making these concepts easy to understand. Difficult task but she succeeds.

Anyone in the RecoveryWorld hallways will agree that making it "simple" is the way to go. "The Secret" is simple. You don't have to believe in any religion, have a degree in philosophy or physics to understand what the presenters offer. Even after watching the video (or reading the book) if you are skeptical, it really couldn't hurt you in any way to try the concepts.

I've heard so many people talk about "the Secret" and how it's becoming "cult like." I don't agree. There's no indication that anyone is trying to get you to join a religion, cult or group with obligatory dues. You pay for a product,(book, DVD or Audio), and you get what you paid for.

Part of the charm is the mystery that stands between you and what is behind the cover. Your attraction to the "secret" and your need to know is the first step in what is, ultimately, the Key to the "Secret;" The Law of Attraction.

Fred Alan Wolf is one of the stars of "The Secret" and he has been talking about taking the "Quantum Leap" for a very long time. Unlike other Quantum Physicists, Wolf has been able to bring the scientific world and the spiritual world very close together and has made, previously difficult concepts, easy to understand. I was pleased with his appearance in the movie version as well as the humor he was able to bring to the topic.

If you are one of our many visitors that is in a Twelve Step program and wonder how the "Secret" can help you in your recovery I encourage you to pick up a copy today. One of the wonderful realizations of being in "program" is that you feel the manifestation of "self" by the time you get to the 12th step. The BIG difference here is that Twelve Step programs preach "powerlessness" whereas the "Secret" states that YOU are in control of the ship that is your life and that YOU can manifest destiny. The only time "powerless" is mentioned, in the "secret" is with regards to "other people." Otherwise, the "Secret" states you are in control.

I've discussed this with some of our other RW Staff members and one fellow replied, "I have always taken the 'powerless' part of the program and applied it to problems, addiction and other people, but when it comes to directing my life in healthy direction I am in control and I have a choice."

Well stated and, if you agree, the Secret could work for you too.

"The Secret" illustrate so well how we are all connected to the universe and that what we THINK MATTERS.

A few us in the office have decided to put the "Secret" to use and get together every couple of weeks for the next few months and share any progress attributed to applying the reviewed concepts. We will share these results with you in a future posting.
