SUMMER READING
It's time for that summer read. How can we pick a book that's both entertaining (for some reason summer books need that extra entertainment factor...) and self help-ish? This time around we're suggesting oldies but goodies! Books that have never left the Recoveryworld Office, have been worn out, loaned, dog eared and yellowed.
Some you may have heard of, others you may discover for the first time. Each book is a GEM and extremely thought provoking. Some are easy reads and some are deep yet entertaining.
First on our list!:

The Universe Is a Green Dragon: A Cosmic Creation Story :Physicist
Brian Swimme crafts a fascinating exploration into the creative force
in all mater.
The author uses a clever and entertaining device to get his theories
across. The book is basic a dialog between a wise old teacher and an
eager student.
Rarely has a book been so thought provoking. What we love about this
book is that it easy to understand yet makes any reader feel more connected
to the Universe...which of course is a great big green dragon.

Zero: The Biography of a Dangerous Idea : How can something....rather
nothing...like ZERO be so dangerous? Well, first of all it's the opposite
of infinity and we all know how dangerous that can be!
Not many books begin with cavemen carving notches on wolf bones and
end with spaceships dipping through space in wormholes.
ZERO: THE BIOGRAPHY OF A DANGEROUS IDEA tells the story of the most
perplexing number on earth and the havoc it's wreaked on religion, science,
and the imagined character of the universe. The innocent-looking number,
first used by the Babylonians to make their counting system work on
paper, has terrified philosophers and tortured physicists seeking to
understand the laws of space and time. Anyone puzzling over the big
bang theory, black holes or the fate of our expanding galaxy must reckon
with the contradictory physics of nothingness.
Robert A. Johnson, our favorite Jungian, recommended this book to one
of our staff and it has been passed around from desk to desk blowing
one mind after another. It's full of history and very deep ideas.

We, Understanding the Psychology of Romantic Love : Speaking of
Robert A. Johnson, this is a favorite of both the Guys and Gals at RecoveryWorld.
After reading this book you will see relationships in a whole different
light. A MUST for any Self help or Jungian Book shelf.

City People Notebook : We don't call this comic art...we call it
SEQUENTIAL ART and Will Eisner was the MASTER. John M. (Creator of the
Buster and Sporto strip) studied with Eisner and has offered this book
as a favorite in human observation.
Will Eisner had a knack of guiding your eyes from one place to the other,
directing your mind in the way a film director would manipulate a camera.
CITY PEOPLE NOTEBOOK is just one of the great works of Sequential Art
by the Master but it's a great place to start.
