Special Report and Review:
Recovering from the Trauma of Miscarriage
Preventing Miscarriage: The Good News :
Here's how it works in our office: the lead editor leaves the books intended for review on the center desk and asks us (the happy staff) to choose the book we are most attracted to, or most identify with and go to work.
One of this month's book choices, sitting there for all to see, was "PREVENTING MISCARRIAGE: The Good News" Why wasn't anyone picking this one up?
I knew a few of the ladies in our group have experienced this terrible ordeal. . . it was mentioned in whisper during a coffee break....and I figured someone would grab the book right up. But, it just sat there.
I wondered why was it I was not picking it up? I realized that it was because I really didn't want to talk about it. Well, then... that was good enough reason for me. This book became my choice for review this month.
I decided to begin my review by attempting conversations with other gals about their experience, if any, with miscarriage. I found, while most of them have discussed addiction, abuse and other recovery topics, not many were willing to really open up about this one. When asked why this was so, the answer, most commonly given in reply, was "It's just a private thing. I didn't even want to discuss the details with my husband." Even when I was more open about my experience I found that my friends were not very willing the share much about their feelings and experiences.
So, here we are. The book review.
While there are many books on the shelf (see listing after this review) and I admit to reading a few prior to getting around to this book, I found the format of this publication to be very well organized and to the point. Under each basic chapter are mini sub-chapter heading that highlight ever minute detail within a half page to a full page length. The book is not loaded with complicated language and includes illustrations where simple words are not enough.
