Happy Yoga: 7 Reasons There's Nothing to Worry About

Happy Yoga

Sandra P. Reviews this new Book By Steve Ross (With Olivia Rosewood).

When this book hit our book pile what caught my eye was the second portion of the title, "7 reasons there's nothing to worry about."

Finally. Somebody is going to make it simple?

Well....it's not all that simple. There's a LOT of information in this book from Steve's personal history to the practice of Yoga to nutrition and it's all good.

The first time Steve practiced Yoga he was eleven years old. His father taught him to sit in a lotus pause. He liked it and his life was forever set in this direction.

After studying yoga in India, and traveling with traditional Vedantic masters all over the world, Steve returned to his hometown of Los Angeles with a broadened point of view of what yoga could be. When he tried to resume a practice at home he was surprised to find it was missing the humor, joy and celebration that fueled his Eastern studies. Western yoga classes seemed to focus obsessively on correcting body positions and developing a picture-perfect physique. Determined to keep his yoga practice FUN, Steve started his own yoga studio, Maha Yoga, and has created a yoga movement in Los Angeles that is, to put it simply, revolutionary.

Steve shares in his book that the "secret" to yoga is not obsessing over whether your feet are parallel or whether you can bend as far as the person on your left, but rather transcending the serious and allowing joy into your life, your body, your mind, and hopefully your yoga practice itself. It's about LIGHTENING UP.

Okay, here are the 7 "reasons' Steve has used to head each chapter:

1. You Can't get Happy, You Can Only Be Happy

2. You Can Have True Love

3. You Are Not Fat.

4. You Are Not Your Daily Grind.

5. You Can Change Your World.

6. You Were Never Born and You Will Never Die.

7. To the Yogi, Everything is Bliss.

If you practice Yoga, this book with be a wonderful reminder of techniques and thought that you may have already learned but forgot. If you are new to Yoga or have been discouraged because the complexity of it all, this book makes it very simple and will absolutely point you in a joyful direction.

Okay. Time to go and "lighten up."
